Just like Phileas Fogg

(download)
Yeah, we are copycats, sssch. The celebration of Jenny's birthday was awesome. After three attempts this year we finally, in the nick of time, made it up in the air! Beautiful views over a city dump and landing on hole 7 at Blissinge golf course, what's not to like about that? This trip has officially started.

Summertime and livin' is easy

Recent activites includes swimming in the ocean, chillin' in the sun and having barbeques. Difficult to feel surly with a beer can in one hand, a book in the other and lovely music streaming out from the speakers. If someone's not sure where Öland is located, it's here.

On'a da island in'a da sun

(download)

Spent an evening listening to some live music here on Öland. Local bands were playing balkan/reggae/folk music as the sun set over the ocean. How sweet it would have been to be playing an instrument and be part of a band. Good thing there are concerts for us who never shown enough patience. Envious? This was just a prewiev to the festival "Öland Roots" that takes place the 16th and 17th of July.

Silly Swedish tradition

Midsummer; dancing around some sort of wooden-penis covered in flowers and green leaves... At least there are strawberries, coffee and great company.

The big move

This was the day we realized that everything we own can fit into a tiny wehicle. It's a kinda weird feeling to be driving around with it all.

Bubbles and icecream

This week we did our last days at work for quite a while. Jenny went to the island Örskär to spend some quality time with her colleagues from the Division of Youth Health, while Per decided to buy icecream for everyone at the office.

No Dostojevskij or Tolstoy

Img_1137

As mentioned in the profile to your right, Jenny is a junkie when it comes to reading novels. According to you, what book would be a crime to leave at home? Please, pitch your best fiction novel to be absorbed by when entering the Trans-siberian railroad! Hopefully you got some tips including storylines taking place in Russia/USSR. Please, no Dostojevskij or Tolstoy though. Ah, and of course English translation.

Somewhat crowded

Img_0382

This weekend we throw a farewell party for our friends in Stockholm; 40 persons managed to squeeze into the tiny space of 25 square meters (which you have to admit is quite impressing). It was about then we realized alot of you guys will be missed when leaving Sweden. After todays visit to the Embassy of the Republic of China, I (Jenny) decided to go for a walk. Stockholm sure is quite beautiful, especially in the summertime (sorry, didn't brought the camera along). Somehow I do understand why the city is crowded with tourists these days.

It's easy to feel a bit sad that the weeks to come, will be filled with farewells of friends, family, colleagues and also places such as our neighborhood, the archipelago and of course the forrests of Småland. Well, at the same time, oh how we look forward to putting on our backpacks, and stepping into the unknown.

Always deadlines

Img_0118

So, what's all this you may wonder. Some of you've heard about every tiny little detail already. Well, meanwhile some of you haven't; here we go. The both of us are really into travellin, exploring and meeting people from different cultures (as every other human being seems to be nowadays). That's why we've decided to take a leave of absence for a year. We've been visitin a bunch of countries and continents previously. But! As we've both been either workin or studying at the University there have always been all of these deadlines. Always deadlines. Now there's only one; to be back in Sweden around May 2011 (which is sweet beyond imagination). The 10th of July we'll arrive to Moscow, Russia. Feel free to follow us as we work our way to Costa Rica, before turning back home. Expect pictures, videos and all that other stuff that will keep you coming back for more.
